Social Science

Many people start their day with the help of a warm cup of coffee. There have been many studies and surveys about weather or not the coffee consumption habbit is healthy for you or unhealthy. There have also been many other myths about weather or not coffee can help to prevent the risk of certain diseases.
While the fact that coffee can extend your life is not proven, the fact that it can lower your chances of health risks is strongly believed by some scientists and researchers. Salynn Boyles from WebMD health news believes that coffee consumption may be able to extend ones life. Esther Lopez-Garcia, PhD, of the University of Madrid concludes that drinking 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day amounts to a reduction of 18% from health risks and that drinking 4 to 5 cups could amount to 26% reduction of health risks for women.
Some other scientists believe coffee to actually be harmful as well. Dr. John P. Kootz from Marion Family Medicine believes that coffee can be bad for the stomach. He says that the acids in coffee can stimulate the production of stomach acid and therefore upset the stomach. However he does not believe that there are any serious long term effects to the stomach by drinking coffee. He does however believe that coffee consumption can help to increase awareness and can decrease the possibilities of suicide. This awareness is one of the main reasons why a large portion of the public consumes coffee and his backing of this helps to conclude that.
Researchers from Harvard have discovered that coffee consumption has no link to cancer. From studies, the amount of coffee drinkers and non coffee drinkers who have died from coffee is not different. However because of the reduction of health risks from drinking coffee, your chances of preventing cancer go up when you drink coffee.
The subject of coffee consumption and health has been long discussed. Through many studies and surveys, scientist conclude that with moderation, the positives and negatives of coffee consumption are too small to make much of a difference.

  1. I liked the actual content of your social scene paper, but it's a little on the short side. You'll need to make it a bit longer, as you are under the word count. Maybe put a bit more of your own opinion in. Do you agree with what the studies show?

PS. Does this thing need to be on a communications issue, or on anything?

  2. As Andrew mentioned before, write a paragraph about your opinion(objective voice). You will need to write what you agree and why you agree and provide some sort of evidence to back up your opinion.
    Great resourses& summaries
